Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Developer – IBM z/OS Connect to support the Gigawatt program’s efforts to build new z/OS services that integrate with MACSS. This role is critical to accelerating service development, strengthening mainframe integration capabilities, and enabling seamless connectivity between legacy systems and modern platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep experience with z/OS Connect, API enablement, and mainframe service development.

This is a full‑time opportunity based in Columbus, OH with a requirement of being onsite five days per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement new z/OS Connect services to support Gigawatt program needs
• Build and enhance integrations between z/OS services and MACSS applications
• Collaborate with architects, mainframe engineers, and cross‑functional teams to ensure scalable and secure service delivery
• Develop and optimize APIs, service definitions, and integration flows within the z/OS Connect ecosystem
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across z/OS Connect, mainframe services, and downstream integrations
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions to ensure high‑quality engineering outcomes
• Contribute to modernization initiatives that bridge mainframe systems with API‑driven architectures
• Ensure adherence to enterprise standards, security requirements, and compliance frameworks
• Provide subject matter expertise across z/OS Connect, API development, and mainframe integration patterns

Required Qualifications

• Extensive hands‑on experience with IBM z/OS Connect, including API creation, service mapping, and configuration
• Strong background in mainframe development using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and related technologies
• Proven experience building and integrating z/OS services with enterprise applications
• Deep understanding of REST APIs, JSON, API security, and service orchestration
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mainframe, API, and integration layers
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative environment
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating z/OS Connect services with MACSS or similar legacy systems
• Familiarity with API gateways, API management platforms, and hybrid integration architectures
• Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation for mainframe API deployments
• Background supporting large‑scale modernization or transformation initiatives
• Experience with microservices, containers, or cloud‑based integration patterns
